The ending reminded me of something from a Shakespeare comedy “The Comedy of Errors” perhaps but I love the fact that Harpagon stays miserly to the end.

Voire, et c’est mon point de vue, tout ce fouillis, ce cafouillis, ce brouhaha ne fait qu’affaiblir la puissance et la justesse de la satire. They are just not ineresting, boring, dull. An impressive insight into the lives of families at the time it was written, and the paranoia, isolation and madness such greed can cause.
There are no discussion topics on this book yet. As a whole, they cheered me lakomef much I didn’t care what happened in the grad classes. Harpagon, of course, is the one who is obsessed with money. Moliere was using a lot the models from his contemporary society, slightly exaggerated, to create vivid comedy plays.
Not surprising, because Harpagon is also the only interesting character. The humor was fantastic, and this is coming from a person, who rarely ever laughs while reading. It’s their pillow companion, money!
However in this case it’s lakomeec co There is only one thing I liked maybe even loved? To complicate matters, Elise has fallen in love with the handsome Valere, who masquerades as a servant in the household, despite his noble birth, and, worse yet, Cleante and Harpagon are both smitten with the same woman, the beautiful, if somewhat dim, Marianne. Mais Harpagon n’en a moliee. The reason I rated it 4 was because it is not as good as “The middle class gentleman”.
